Traffic Alerts

SEO Dash monitors your traffic daily and alerts you when there are significant changes.

How It Works

The daily digest cron compares yesterday's visitor count with the day before yesterday's. If the percentage change exceeds your configured threshold, an alert is sent via email.

Thresholds

  • Traffic Spike - Default threshold: 50%. Triggers when yesterday's visitors are 50%+ higher than the day before.
  • Traffic Drop - Default threshold: 30%. Triggers when yesterday's visitors are 30%+ lower than the day before.
  • Minimum threshold - 10%. Even if you set a lower threshold, the system requires at least a 10% change to avoid noise from normal daily fluctuations.

False Positive Prevention

The system includes several safeguards:

  • Minimum visitor count - Both days must have meaningful traffic (day-before needs 10+ visitors, yesterday needs 5+) to prevent alerts on low-traffic sites where normal variation looks like a spike or drop.
  • Mutually exclusive - A site cannot trigger both a spike and a drop alert for the same day.
  • Calendar days - Comparisons use proper calendar day boundaries in your configured timezone, not rolling 24-hour windows.

Requirements

  • An analytics provider must be configured (any supported provider)
  • Sites must have an analytics site ID mapped
