Redirect Checker

The Redirect Checker follows any URL through its full redirect chain, reporting each hop along the way. It shows the HTTP status code, destination URL, and response time for each step.

What It Detects

• 301 redirects - Permanent redirects (pass full link equity)
• 302 redirects - Temporary redirects (may not pass full link equity)
• 307/308 redirects - HTTP/2 temporary and permanent redirects
• Redirect chains - Multiple redirects in sequence (bad for performance and SEO)
• Redirect loops - Infinite redirect cycles

Best Practices

• Keep redirect chains to one hop maximum. Every additional hop adds latency and may dilute link equity.
• Use 301 redirects for permanent URL changes, not 302.
• After a site migration, verify all old URLs redirect correctly to their new destinations.
• Check that your canonical URL is the final destination, not a redirect source.
